Thoughts on my travels
. . Wow, time really does fly. First there was Annapolis, then a few weeks later Flagler Beach, Florida followed a few days later by Myrtle Beach and for the grand finale, Savannah, Orlando and back to Flagler Beach in early July. All were fun and all were for different purposes and were all unique in their own way. Tim and I flew to Flagler in late May to see our son, his wife and their 3 month old baby girl, Addison. We spent time with Becca's family, time with just Becca and time with just Ryan and Becca. It was a wonderful trip in every way--despite the fact that a tropical storm was hitting Flagler as we were ready to head home! We enjoyed the family time so much and we especially enjoyed our runs and walks on the beach in the early mornings when it seemed like Tim and I were the only ones around. Myrtle Beach was very relaxing--but lots more crowded. And, we took our walks on the beach in the evening rather than the mornings. I honestly don't know what was more special--the sun rising on Flagler beach or the sun setting on Myrtle Beach. I do know that it was great to have the opportunity to do both..
Today my family is finishing up an 8 day vacation in Orlando and will be heading to Flagler tomorrow so that baby Addison can meet her aunt and uncle for the first time. We stopped in Savannah on our way down last week. It is such a cute---maybe quaint is a better word-city. Emily loved it with all its shops and restaurants and artsy boutiques. And, the history of the area was appealing to the rest of us in the family. The remainder of our time has been spent either at our condo recovering from the unbelievable heat wave that has hit Orlando or at the parks (meaning Disney World and Sea World.) We have decided that Sea World was nice and we had a great time there....but we probably would not go back if given the opportunity. Also, we spent time at all 4 Disney parks this time around and have decided that there is no match for the Magic Kingdom. Our favorites, from last to first are: Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Magic Kingdom. In our minds, we would definitely visit Epcot again and of course, the Magic Kingdom. However, we all agreed that our all time favorite is Disneyland--hands down, no comparison. Perhaps because it is smaller and more intimate (but way more crowded!) or maybe because we liked their versions of the classic rides better or maybe because it is where all four of us first fell in love with "Disney". While we certainly enjoyed our days at DisneyWorld, we kept reminding each other of how much better things are at Disneyland. Of course, not many people can relate to such "talk" because WDW is all they know. But, we know better. So Disneyland, you don't have to worry about the Middleton's falling for your newer, larger , more extravagant cousin in Florida. You will forever be number one in our hearts.
