Time Away

Tim and I just returned from a long weekend in Annapolis, Maryland.  Tim participated in the Trirock triathlon on Saturday so we took the opportunity to turn it into a fun three day trip.  And, fun it was!  Our B&B was just two blocks from the start/finish (and also two blocks from the water.)  Our room also overlooked the campus of the Naval Academy.  We were within walking distance of everything--and Annapolis is definitely a city best experienced on foot.

This was one of  many homes on the Naval Academy grounds.  These were such lovely homes.

The Middleton name is everywhere we go!!

There were rows and rows of colorful homes in historic Annapolis!
This is the first of three trips my hubby and I will be taking over a 4 week span of time.  I have rarely been away from my children for more than one night since they were born.  And, even as teenagers, they still want me to be around---and have certainly made it known they would prefer I don't go on these upcoming trips.  Now, I know this is not the norm and I feel incredibly blessed to have teenagers who enjoy being with me.  I have worked hard over the years to make our home a place of peace and security so that when these years came they would have a refuge from all the craziness known as high school.  Thankfully, they are both most comfortable in their own home and with their family than anywhere else.  In just a few short years, they will be in their own places and I will have plenty of time to travel.  For now, I am grateful for weekends like this one that pop up every so often that allow Tim and I to get away.  After all, time spent with my man is the most important time of all.
